Form Follows Flavor
To celebrate the nomination for 2024 Sprudge Design Awards "Outstanding Packaging: Whole Bean," we share our intention behind the design process.
Simplicity reveals depth. For Imunika’s new packaging design, founder Jinhu Park collaborated with Seoul-based visual director IAMTHEKG to craft a minimalist aesthetic that embodies the essence of this boutique wellness brand, created by his award-winning fermentary in South Korea.
The packaging features an elegant embossed pattern that drew inspiration from the flow of time, the delicate gills of mushrooms, and the heritage of traditional Asian artistry.
At its center, the mushroom logo is subtly hidden in plain sight—just like our bio-fermentation process, which integrates the immune benefits of seven medicinal mushrooms into green beans.
There’s no hint of mushroom flavor, only the pure, genuine specialty coffee experience that is low in caffeine, high in adaptogens, and distinctively smooth and non-bitter in aftertaste.
To reflect our commitment to sustainability and natural aesthetics, Old Mill Premium White 350g was selected for the material. This high-quality, uncoated paper is made with FSC-certified, environment-friendly ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) pulp.
Its felt-marked texture, paired with the embossed design, invites a tactile connection—like feeling the invisible flow of air that aligns perfectly with our philosophy of understated sophistication.
One interesting fact is that our fermented beans are roasted in Seattle, where we’ve partnered to create two medium-based roasting profiles, identified by red and black text colors —a purposeful simplification to make the customer’s choice effortless.
Imunika represents the coexistence of contrasts: coffee and wellness, flavor and functionality, East and West. As your ideal first cup, it transforms each morning into a quiet moment of calm and self-reflection.
With this wellness morning brew from Korea—historically known as Joseon (朝鮮), the Land of the Morning Calm—you nurture a deeper connection to yourself, turning each sip into a ritual of self-love.
